Stephen Minix’s Podcast Appearance

Stephen Minix, UpMetrics’ VP of Community, appeared on The Nonprofit Exchange podcast to discuss rethinking nonprofit-funder relationships. The conversation dove deep into the traditional nonprofit-funder relationship, which is heavily transactional and output-focused. Then, it highlighted a better way forward: mutually beneficial learning that emphasizes outcomes. The bottom line for nonprofits and funders is to cultivate relationships that drive transformation with streamlined data processes and enhanced impact.

Impact Capital Managers Research

In late 2025, UpMetrics contributed to new research from the Impact Capital Managers Institute, “exploring how portfolio companies experience impact data—and what they need from investors to use it more effectively.” Some key findings include:

  • 76% of companies that gauge impact data think it’s important to do so, but 46% lack the time and 35% lack the funding required to fully integrate it into their infrastructure.
  • 87% would value having additional support to build impact-reporting infrastructure, including help from external experts (44%) and funding to bolster internal impact reporting systems (42%).

Recent Cohort Launch

UpMetrics and the Foglia Family Foundation recently launched their 2025-26 Chicago cohort with three new grantees, celebrating eight years of partnership. This year’s cohort includes 10 organizations participating in a year-long program featuring hands-on workshops, peer learning, and free access to UpMetrics’ impact measurement platform. By guiding these grantees to define key impact indicators and build customized programmatic dashboards, the program empowers them to turn complex data into actionable insights to refine strategies and improve services.
